Project Overview:

By reclaiming inefficient space and correcting legacy builder-grade shortcuts, this Milverton renovation breathed new life into a 1990s-era home. The project centred on a significant structural reconfiguration to convert a single, mega-bathroom into two high-functioning modern retreats, while simultaneously resolving hidden plumbing defects and updating the entire main floor aesthetic.

Objectives:

  1. Space Optimization: Reconfigure the upper-level floor plan by removing and relocating multiple closets to maximize square footage for dual bathrooms and a primary suite.
  2. Mechanical Remediation: Rectified structural damage caused by previous leaks and bring the home’s plumbing up to modern code, ensuring proper venting and long-term durability.
  3. Visual Continuity: Replace dated 90s finishes, including cedar accents and floral wallpaper, with a bright, unified design language and consistent flooring throughout the main level and bathrooms.

Scope of Work:

  • Transformed the original single bathroom into two distinct spaces. The main bathroom now features a functional tub-shower combo and expanded storage, while the primary ensuite boasts a spacious walk-in shower and a double vanity. Both showers utilize oversized rectangular white tiles in a herringbone pattern.
  • Replaced the kitchen and living room ceilings to repair damage from previous jet-tub leaks. A full main-floor lighting plan was executed, integrating recessed pot lights to eliminate dark zones.
  • Corrected unvented plumbing in the laundry and powder room. The mudroom was fully optimized for storage with custom cabinetry and a discreet, closet-enclosed stacked laundry unit.
  • Stripped all wallpaper and borders, followed by painting of the first and second floors. The renovation was completed with new flooring and custom trim and window casings throughout the main level for a crisp, high-end finish.

The successful completion of this Milverton transformation replaced builder-grade limitations with custom-built quality. By solving the home’s original layout flaws and correcting hidden mechanical issues, we delivered a residence that offers both the luxury of a primary ensuite and the peace of mind of a technically sound renovation. While the homeowners originally planned to upgrade the property for the market, the final result was so transformative that they fell back in love with the space, deciding to skip the sale and stay in a home that finally feels like their own.
