Backyard Bunkie

Project Overview:

This project involved the complete transformation of an existing backyard shed into a sophisticated, modern bunkie for a high-traffic Airbnb property in Wasaga. By stripping the structure to its studs and reimagining the exterior, we created a premium "tiny home" experience that serves as a versatile guest retreat for both kids and adults.

Objectives:

1. Property Value Expansion: Convert a standard utility shed into a high-value sleeping asset, increasing the Airbnb’s guest capacity and nightly rental appeal.
2. Modern Aesthetic: Execute a clean, "Scandi-inspired" design using a bright white palette with high-contrast accents to create a photogenic space for guests.
3. Four-Season Utility: Fully insulate the structure and upgrade the building to ensure a comfortable environment throughout the cottage country seasons.

Scope of Work:

• Stripped the original shed to the studs and installed a new roofing system, windows, and a modern entryway for improved curb appeal.
• Full insulation and vapor barrier installation, along with the addition of a dedicated electrical sub-panel to power modern guest amenities.
• Construction of a custom wrap-around deck to extend the living space outdoors and integrate the bunkie into the backyard landscape.
• Professional trim, and painting using a clean white finish to maximize the feeling of space in a compact footprint.

The successful completion of the Wasaga Guest Bunkie transformed a simple storage shed into a designer outdoor retreat. This project provides the homeowners with a beautiful, functional asset that enhances their short-term rental offering, providing occupants with a private and modern sanctuary in the heart of cottage country.
